      Consumer Credit Report

Informed decisions through superior credit information
Experian proudly hosts the most comprehensive consumer credit information database in South Africa, providing credit grantors with the largest range of credit information.
This information helps our clients assess a credit applicant's ability to honour a financial agreement and alerts them to the possibility of fraud.
These valuable sources of information are used at all points of the customer lifecycle, from target marketing, on-line referencing at time of application, to collections and propensity strategies that maximise the profitability of existing customers.

The credit information held by Experian is a combination of both positive and negative information - in fact, approximately 85% of all South African consumers conduct their accounts responsibly.

Experian's consumer credit reports include:
  • ID Verification – Experian holds over 31 million verified identity numbers.
  • Contactability information - Experian stores the most up-to-date address and telephone information, for each consumer record.
  • Judgements - A judgement is a public record that is lodged by the courts against a person who has failed to repay their debt to a credit grantor.
  • Defaults – Authorised credit grantors will inform Experian of borrowers who have not conducted their accounts responsibly.
  • Collections - Consumers that have defaulted on their credit repayments may be handed over to a collections company to collect the debt.
  • Enquiries– Experian displays the name and date of all the organisations that have previously performed enquiries on a consumer's record.
