Experian, one of the world’s leading global information services company, has appointed Ferdie Pieterse as the new Chief Executive Officer for Experian Africa.

With extensive pan-African experience as an emerging markets executive in numerous C-Suite roles within the financial services sector, Ferdie is well-suited to driving Experian’s expansion into Africa.

His vision for Experian Africa complements the company’s brand positioning to power opportunities for clients in Africa by unlocking the power of data and technology.

He is passionate about the accessibility of technology in Africa and explains that “We have big dreams for Africa. As most countries in Africa are developing countries with the rapidly emerging middle class and young population, financial inclusion is a primary driver of each country. There is a need for technologies that can affordably increase the speed of development and financial inclusion, thus giving us a large canvas to work with.”

Ferdie’s career in the industry began in auditing before moving into financial management and operations in some of our biggest banks.

During the past seven years, as the Chief Operating Officer for Africa and Regional Head Strategic Projects and Governance for African and the Middle East at Standard Chartered Bank, Ferdie gained extensive experience in expanding banking operations in 25 markets and has been at the helm of driving the business and developing its talented teams.

“His extensive experience in financial services, particularly at local and global banks operating on the continent, makes him an excellent fit for this role and we are confident in his ability to drive future growth for Experian across Africa,” says Marco Benvenuto, Chief Operating Officer Experian EMEA.

Ferdie is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Certified Information Systems Auditor who holds an Honours Degree in Accounting from the University of South Africa and Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Banking (cum laude). As a resident student, he attended the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School where he completed the Leading Across Boundaries Executive Programme.

Ferdie joined Experian Africa in March 2020.
