The Marketing Department, serving Experian South Africa and the Rest of Africa countries, is responsible for the awareness and promotion of the Experian brand, product offerings, events, PR as well as the acquisition of new clients through marketing activities and campaigns.

This page is intended to help you understand what we do with your data and personal information in application to our marketing processes and how we engage with you. Across all systems, we've ensured that your data is sourced, held, processed and, where appropriate, deleted in a way that is safe and secure.

Data sources

The Experian Africa Marketing Department collects data from the following sources:

  • Online/digital forms such as event registrations, gated content downloads, contact us forms, etc. across our websites.
  • Physical forms at Experian- or 3rd-party-hosted events.
  • Social media lead generation forms.
  • Experian owned platforms and systems.
  • Cookie tracking implemented on our websites.

How Experian Marketing Africa processes your data

Client Information

The personal information on our corporate clients is housed on our CRM, Salesforce in Chicago and Washington DC, USA. 

The information on the CRM is retained for as long as there is a business relationship between the client and their company. Should an individual cease to work at the company with which Experian has a business relationship, a process will be initiated wherein the information will be deleted within 15 months. 

Note: This 15-month period may reset should the individual engage with Experian again within this period.

Marketing Tools

In the course of business, the personal information on our corporate clients is processed using two principal marketing tools, Oracle Eloqua (servers located in Toronto, Canada) and GoToWebinar (servers located in the Republic of Ireland). 

The information on these systems is retained for as long as there is a business relationship between the client and their company. Should an individual cease to work at the company with which Experian has a business relationship, a process will be initiated wherein the information will be deleted within 15 months. 

Note: This 15-month period may reset should the individual engage with Experian again within this period.

Prospect or Lead Information

The personal information of prospects or marketing leads is housed on our CRM, Salesforce in Chicago and Washington DC, USA. 

The information on the CRM is retained for a period of 12 months in our main database and an additional 3 months in a deletion queue.  This 15-month period may reset should the individual engage with Experian again within this period.

Cross-border transfer of data

Our CRM and the marketing tools described on this page store your Personal Information on and transfer your personal information to databases located outside of the borders of South Africa.

As part of a larger international team, this information may be accessed by marketing specialists assisting in the execution of marketing activities.

We may engage service providers to support our business and they may be based or use data centres outside of South Africa. Whenever your Personal Information is transferred cross border, it will receive a similar level of protection.
