Collection Process Timeline

  1. Report Overdue Account: The credit grantor reports the overdue account to Experian.
  2. Demand Letter: Experian sends a demand letter to the debtor within 24 hours, in compliance with the National Credit Act 34 of 2005, allowing a prescribed period for payment in accordance with applicable requirements.
  3. Final Demand: If there is no response, a follow-up communication is issued prior to any further action.
  4. Adverse Listing: If still unpaid, the credit grantor completes the adverse listing documentation.
  5. Confirmation & Listing: The credit provider may proceed with adverse listing, subject to compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
